Welcome to Devilla's website! Multi-award winning dancer, DeVilla has been dancing and performing since the age of six. While continuing her study of dance, DeVilla graduated college with a Bachelor of fine Arts degree and a minor in art history. She soon moved to Los Angeles where she began a successful career as a make up artist for Film and Television. Devilla first discovered, then fell in love with Middle Eastern dance ten years ago. Since then, it has become a driving force in her life. She began performing publicly 2000 and in 2001, founded the "Mighty Isis Dance Co." In 2006, the Company disbanded and DeVilla embraced the opportunity to become a solo artist and pursue other artistic dance outlets. She joint the powerhouse trio "Saharan Sirens" and Has worked closely with Zahra Zuhair on her recent and critically acclaimed "Caravan of Secrets", in which she performed and designed the make ups for the show. She studies extensively with Zahra Zuhair, who is her mentor and a "gentle kick in the ass" and when possible, also studies with Jillina and Ansuya, as they have both been great inspirations. DeVilla travels yearly to the Ahlan Wa Sahlan dance festival in Cairo to study with Egyptian greats, including Raqia Hassan, Dr. Mo Geddawi, Rhanda Kamel, Momo Kadous, Diana and many,many, more. Devilla loves this dance and feels blessed for having found it! Her dance is a blend of true Egyptian raks sharky, magical ritual , costumes, make up and the glamour of "old hollywood." Her performances have been described as elegant and inspired, the right balance of personal style and classic Egyptian! She is thankful to have the best of both worlds; Hollywood make up artist and middle eastern dance artist!
